I was interviewed on-camera for this, though I don’t know if I made the final cut. Turns out I’m all over this thing!
“Mobster Cop” premieres Thursday, August 6, at 9/8c. In an Illinois town in the grip of the Chicago mob, Police Chief Michael Corbitt is surrounded by temptation. A string of extortion scams, violent crimes and a deadly extramarital affair prompts investigators to suspect that Corbitt has been lured in.
This video preview is being finicky, so here’s a link to it if it doesn’t work for you.

Er, not really.
I kinda love these folks – and I’m not really a rules and discipline kind of guy.
But let me back up.
I came across this episode on YouTube of a show called World’s Strictest Parents. This particular installment features a Chicago couple – though their block looks awfully suburban to me – from 2013. I was surprised by what I saw.
See, I was expecting parents whose strictness was beyond reason. That’s not them at all. I love you, DeWayne and Vanessa Davis!
While I wouldn’t necessarily have wanted to live in their house, I found them to be eminently fair in their parenting.
And the kids from England sent to live with them? Awful.

“Good times are coming to the big screen. Black-ish creator Kenya Barris has been set to write the screenplay for a Good Times film based on the hit ’70s sitcom, his manager confirmed to The Associated Press.
“Good Times, which aired on CBS from 1974 to 1979, was about an African-American family living in a poor neighborhood in Chicago.”
To be specific, an African-American family living in Cabrini-Green, where writer Eric Monte had lived (Monte also wrote the screenplay for Cooley High, the inspiration for What’s Happening!!; he attended the real Cooley Vocational here in Chicago.)
Let’s take a look.
