So far the guy is vile. His defense of Derrick Rose as an overall winner was bizarre in its rationale – e.g.. among other things, Parkins observed that it was perfectly OK for Rose to have someone take his SAT test for him because that was the only way Rose could get out of Englewood and into Memphis and end up making $300 million, this last being the main reason we should think of Rose as a “winner.”
Pressed a bit on this, Parkins said that everyone has his/her price, and that only a fool would think otherwise and/or object to that.
Don’t recall whether Speigel or any caller asked Parkins if he has his price – if, say, his on-air opinions are for sale for the right fee.
Also, aside from Parkins’ own dick-ish behavior, and his grating voice, it seems fairly clear that Speigel can’t stand him, which makes for very bad radio.
