Will John Fox Last The Day?
“If you’re keeping a scorecard between the Bears and the 49ers and the big trade for the No. 2 pick, score a win for the 49ers in Round 1 and consider it a setback for the power brokers at Halas Hall,” Brad Biggs writes for the Tribune.
“The 49ers’ 15-14 victory, powered by five Robbie Gould field goals, added further embarrassment in a season gone wrong for the Bears. With the exception of a wild punt return by rookie Tarik Cohen, a 61-yard adventure that required a lot more steps than that in weaving-and-juking flash, the Bears were completely manhandled by what was a 1-10 football team.”
Ouch.

From Niners Nation: “The #Bears are not a strong offensive team by any stretch of the imagination, but they were nearly historically bad against the 49ers … Chicago ran just 36 plays on offense, the fewest against the 49ers since Oct. 20, 1991.”

It is hard to imagine any excuse for allowing John Fox and Dowell Loggains to coach the last four games of the season for the Bears

The #Bears should have just played in street clothes today.

The only thing that could make the #Bears worse at this point is if John Fox also had contacts with the Russians during the transition.

The #Bears should fire Ernie Accorsi.

Will the Browns be favored over the #Bears?

Everyone: The Cleveland Browns are the most poorly run organization in football.

Deiondre’ Hall looked plenty healthy as a gunner on special teams. Mind-boggling that the now 3-9 #Bears would play 30-year-old Chris Prosinski (who was just re-signed last week) over a 23-year-old prospect.
Oh, and Adam Shaheen played 9-of-37 snaps on offense.
— Adam Hoge (@AdamHoge) December 4, 2017
During final cut-downs, the #Bears cut Chris Prosinski and kept Deiondre’ Hall on the 53-man roster so that they could IR-to-return him.
This week, Hall came off IR and the Bears re-signed Prosinski to start over him.

Lamarr Houston on his release by the Texans: “They just wanted young guys playing because they’re not going to the playoffs any more.”
He played almost every snap for the Bears’ defense on Sunday.

Fool’s Gould:
The truth is, though, that when Robbie Gould was cut by the #Bears it was the right thing to do at the time – he was missing too many field goals, it got embarrassing. Don’t have #journesia
— Beachwood Reporter (@BeachwoodReport) December 3, 2017
In 2015, Robbie Gould missed 6 of his final 24 FG attempts w/the #Bears, incl. 1 to win a game & 1 to tie. The Bears were last in the league in opponents’ starting position after his kickoffs. In 2016, Gould missed 2 PATs in the preseason finale. It looked like he was done.
— Beachwood Reporter (@BeachwoodReport) December 4, 2017
Cutting Gould then was not the problem. Failing to do it sooner, or bring in competition in the 2016 preseason instead of swapping in Connor Barth in a Ryan Pace fever dream at the last second was the problem.

Robbie Gould is still unemployed, btw, so no other team apparently thinks he’s better than who they already have.

Robbie Gould before the game: “There is no such thing as a revenge game.” After the game: “Pretty sweet!” #Bears

“Yes, the optics of what unfolded Sunday at Soldier Field are just brutal for the Bears, especially for Pace.
“He was beat by the kicker he cut, with the help of the quarterback (Jimmy Garoppolo) he potentially could have acquired, who happened to play at his own alma mater (Eastern Illinois).
“Only Bill Belichick knows if Garoppolo could have been a Bear, but one would think the haul Pace gave up for Mitch Trubisky (the No. 3 overall pick, two third-round picks and a fourth-rounder) could have been enough last spring.
“As it turned out, the 49ers got Garoppolo for just an early second-rounder and were on the receiving end of that haul Pace gave up for Trubisky.
“It’s still way too early to know which franchise will benefit the most in the long run, but in the context of Sunday’s loss to Gould and Garoppolo, it all looks bad. Really, really bad.”
John Fox — 0-7 when favored and 3-13 against the NFC North — felt better about blocking a 24-yard FG than putting the ball in the hands of his No. 2 overall pick with about 90 seconds to go. There’s just no way to defend that. Column from Soldier Field: https://t.co/cJBReRt5k3

“Saying the Bears hit rock bottom by losing to the 49ers actually does a disservice to rocks. The Bears still have to play the Browns on Christmas Eve.”

Per the official NFL snap counts, Akiem Hicks has played 251 out of 282 defensive snaps for the Bears since the bye. If you remove Eagles game, when he sat because of a blowout, that’s 197/204 (96%). Completely unsustainable.

Just an atrocious loss. Atrocious. Jimmy Garoppolo leveled the playing field for the 49ers, but gosh, can’t lose at home to a 1-10 team. Bad bad bad.
