GREAT MOMENTS IN ROCK DANCING, NUMBER TWO
J. Geils
Band
at Soldier
Field,
1977:
Sly Stone
failed to
show
at Petrillo
Bandshell
in ’71, and live
music
was BANNED
on the
lakefront (can you IMAGINE?!)!
Until 1977, and, ladies and gentlemen,
“The Super Bowl
of Rock!”
FELLAS!
Number One (of
four):
Emerson, Lake
& Palmer
with a 60-piece
orchestra!
But Peter Wolf
stole
the day!
Frug-ing, Ponyi-ng,
Shimmy-ing, Monkey-ing
his brains
out,
boog-a-
loo-ing, man, and lookin’ lookin’ lookin’ lookin’
foh a
LUV
to call
his own!
Probably fried
to his hat
on every drug
imaginable, too,
but MAN,
you shoulda
been
there.
