“In support of his February 2013 Bloodshot release, Stranger In My Land, Roger Knox – the Aboriginal Australian Country/Western artist, the Koori King of Country, Black Elvis – and The Pine Valley Cosmonauts will be performing four shows in the U.S., including a special performance at the Old Town School of Folk Music,” according to Bloodshot PR.
“The album . . . features appearances from Bonnie Prince Billy, Kelly Hogan, Dave Alvin, Sally Timms and Jon Langford, the Sadies, Andre Williams, and perhaps the last known recording from Charlie Louvin of the Louvin Brothers.
“It is an album about real social/cultural issues that are affecting people still to this day in Australia.
“Stranger In My Land is a collection of songs originally written by Aborigine artists who were Knox’s predecessors and peers; some of the tunes were previously recorded but difficult to find, while others are unrecorded, handed-down folklore songs (which without this recording, could be lost forever).”
Here’s some Roger Knox from 2009:
