Local Music Notebook: 2 Chainz At Tanner Elementary

1. He stayed in school.

2 Chainz graduated from Alabama State University after four years with a 4.0 GPA.
(At 6-foot-5, he was on a basketball scholarship there.)

Eighty-four percent of Tanner Elementary’s students are low-income; 9.5 percent are homeless.
The school is named after artist Henry Ossawa Tanner.

2. Reckless Angel Olsen.
“We just added a new member to the Angel Olsen band, which is my friend Emily Elhaj,” Olsen tells Consequence of Sound.
“She used to work at Reckless Records in Chicago and was a buyer there. So, she’s playing bass for us, and then Stewart [Bronagh], who was playing bass, will now be playing guitar [along with Josh Jaeger on drums]. So, I’ve just been really focusing on working with others a lot, which has been cool.”

3. The Orwells Out East.
“Chicago-based garage punk fivesome The Orwells are more suited for small clubs, not arenas that pack more than 6,500,” the Patriot-Ledger of Quincy, Massachusetts reports.
“But the barely legal kids weren’t fazed by their surroundings, tearing through a frenetic set at Boston’s Agganis Arena Thursday night like they were playing a 150-capacity dive bar.”
