The [Thursday] Papers

CTU Strike Notebook 3 is (still) in progress. Previously:
* CTU Strike Notebook 1: Everyone Is Bullshitting You.
* CTU Strike Notebook 2: Media Misframing.
Also, I’ll (still) deal with the mayor’s proposed budget tomorrow.
Meanwhile . . .

Costly Co-Living
“The 92-year-old Clark Adams Building, also known as the Bankers Building, on the Chicago Loop is set to become the largest co-living complex in the city,” The Architect’s Newspaper reports.
Rooms – not units, TAN points out – will start at $1,400 a month.
Reynolds Rap
“Reynolds Consumer Products, the maker of Reynolds Wrap aluminum foil and Hefty trash bags, intends to seek a valuation of $7 billion in its U.S. initial public offering, according to people with knowledge of the matter,” Bloomberg reports.
It’s always fascinating to me how many fortunes are built on mundanities – which isn’t to diss the miracle that is aluminum foil.
But here’s the really interesting part: Reynolds Wrap is based in Lake Forest.
Koz Play
“The Museum of Broadcast Communications is celebrating [Rich] Koz’s 40 years playing Svengoolie with a new exhibition that will feature the Son of Svengoolie coffin and other items from the original set,” the Reader notes.
“The exhibition kicks off with a gala at the museum on Saturday, October 26, at 7 PM. Tickets are $50 and include a meet-and-greet with Koz; proceeds benefit the museum.”
Best worst meet-and-greet ever?
MAROON-X
“Scientists from the University of Chicago installed an exoplanet-searching instrument to the Gemini Observatory on Mauna Kea in Hawaii last month,” the Maroon reports.
Cool!

But . . .
“Despite the Hawaiian Supreme Court’s approval of the $1.4 billion project, protesters have argued that the TMT trespassed over sacred Native Hawaiian land, and that the telescope could damage the dormant volcano’s fragile ecosystem.”
Dr. Bezos Will See You Now
“Amazon has acquired a health care company founded and led by a Northwestern Memorial Hospital doctor, marking the e-commerce giant’s latest foray into health care,” the Tribune reports.
Amazon is foraying into health care?
*
“Amazon has acquired Health Navigator, a company that supports e-health and telemedicine . . . Health Navigator will be part of a new employee offering called Amazon Care, the company said. The service connects Amazon employees and their family members to doctors or nurse practitioners through live chat or video, with an option of in-person follow ups from registered nurses.”
It’s only a matter of time, people: Amazon for All.
